Ethylene glycol distearate (EGDS) is a naturally occurring fatty acid that is used as an ingredient in personal care products and cosmetics. It is the ester of ethylene glycol and stearic acid.
EGDS is a mixture of mono- and di- esters. It is nearly insoluble in aqueous systems, which makes it effective as an opacifier and pearlizing agent. EGDS is a solid, waxy flake that is white in color. It has an acid value of 10 max and a saponification value of 195±5.
