Preparation
Phenyl-oxindole: 2-Chloro-N,N-diphenyl acetamide (1 mol) along with anhydrous AICI, is taken in benzene and kept under reflux for 4 h. The excess solvent is distilled out and the reaction mixture is poured in cold water to get white precipitates. The product is filtered and dried to give the title compound.
