Borage Oil is an extract from the seeds of the Borago officinalis plant.  The plant is also known as the "star flower" because of its blue star-shaped flowers.  Borage oil is known for its high gamma linolenic acid (GLA) content. GLA is a fatty acid that may help reduce inflammation related to many diseases. CapsularisBorage oil is extracted from the seeds using a cold processing method.  It is native to the Mediterranean region and is widely used for medicinal purposes.  Borage oil has been promoted as a treatment for rheumatoid arthritis, atopic dermatitis, diabetic neuropathy, and menopause-related symptoms.  It is also believed to delay wrinkling and is sometimes used in night creams. However, there is some concern that borage seed oil might prolong bleeding time and increase the risk of bruising and bleeding. Borage products containing hepatotoxic pyrrolizidine alkaloids (PA) might also make liver disease worse.
