Description

Abacavir (ABC) is a powerful nucleoside analog reverse transcriptase inhibitor (NRTI) used to treat HIV and AIDS. Chemically, it is a synthetic carbocyclic nucleoside and is the enantiomer with 1S, 4R absolute configuration on the cyclopentene ring.

 

Preparation

Stage-1 : N-(2-Amino-4,6-dichloro-5-pyrimidinyl)formamide is reacted with (1S,4R)- 4-Amino-2-cyclopentene-1- methanol Tartrate, Sodium Carbonate in presence of Isopropyl Alcohol solvent media to get Stage-1 Compound.
