Polyquaternium-39 is a cationic, water-soluble polymer widely used in hair care products as a conditioning, anti-static, and styling agent. It is a copolymer of acrylamide and quaternary ammonium compounds, which gives it a positive charge that allows it to bind effectively to the negatively charged hair surface.
Polyquaternium-39 is particularly valued for its ability to improve wet and dry combing, enhance shine, reduce frizz, and provide light holding properties. Unlike some other polyquaterniums, it is also used in styling formulations such as gels, mousses, and leave-in treatments due to its film-forming capability, which provides light hold without stiffness.
