Palmitoyl Glutathione is a lipophilic derivative of glutathione, created by attaching palmitic acid to the natural antioxidant glutathione. This modification increases the molecule’s skin penetration and stability in cosmetic formulations.
Glutathione itself is a powerful tripeptide antioxidant composed of glutamic acid, cysteine, and glycine. When modified with a palmitoyl group, the compound becomes more compatible with the skin’s lipid barrier, allowing it to penetrate the skin more effectively.
