GHTC, short for Glycol Hexamethylene Thiocarbamate, is a preservative and antimicrobial agent used in cosmetic, personal care, and hair care products. It is valued for its broad-spectrum antimicrobial activity, helping to prevent the growth of bacteria, yeast, and mold in formulations.
GHTC is commonly incorporated into shampoos, conditioners, lotions, and creams, especially in mild and sulfate-free formulations, because it is effective at low concentrations and has low irritation potential.
