Cetrimonium Bromide (CTAB) is a cationic surfactant and conditioning agent widely used in cosmetic, personal care, and hair care products. It is derived from cetyltrimethylammonium compounds and is known for its antistatic, emulsifying, and antimicrobial properties.
CTAB is particularly effective as a hair conditioning agent, helping to smooth, detangle, and soften hair. It also functions as a mild preservative and emulsifier in certain formulations. Because it is cationic, it binds well to the negatively charged surfaces of hair and skin, leaving a soft, silky, and manageable feel.
