Butyl Paraben is an ester of p-hydroxybenzoic acid and butanol, belonging to the paraben family of preservatives. It is widely used in cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, and personal care products to prevent the growth of bacteria, molds, and yeasts, thereby extending product shelf life.
It is particularly effective against fungi and molds, and it is often used together with other parabens (such as methylparaben or propylparaben) to provide a broad-spectrum preservative system.
